❗Upcoming label template updates

Find all the technical details on upcoming changes for product labels.

We are rolling out several updates to our label templates: an automated matrix code placeholder, resized templates for select products, and refreshed label content.

❗ The changes will require a transition period, which will start on May 18.

Here's what will change, what stays the same, and why.

Matrix code placeholder

A square labeled "Reserved" in the bottom-left corner

The updated template includes a small placeholder box in the bottom-left corner marked "Reserved." This area will not be part of your artwork — it is reserved for an automatically generated matrix code (a 2D barcode) that our system applies to every label at the time an order is placed.

Why it's there: Each order requires a unique matrix code for traceability and compliance purposes. By reserving the space in the template, we ensure the code is always printed in a consistent, predictable location without overlapping your design. You do not need to create or place the code yourself — it is generated and applied automatically.

Keep this area completely clear in your artwork. Any design elements placed inside the reserved zone will be covered by the matrix code during printing.

Safe zone

A green dashed line indicating the safe zone boundary

A green dashed line now appears inside the label area. This line marks the safe zone — the region where all important content (text, logos, supplement facts, legal copy) must sit to guarantee it prints fully and is not trimmed off.

Why it's there: Printing is never perfectly precise — there is always a small margin of variation. The safe zone gives your design a buffer so that even if the print runs slightly inward, nothing critical gets clipped. This line is a guide only and will not appear on the printed label.

Bleed area

A red border marking the bleed boundary

A red border now surrounds the entire label template. This marks the bleed area — a zone that extends slightly beyond the final cut line. Any background colors or edge-to-edge design elements should be extended out to this red border.

Why it's there: When a label is printed, the print may fall fractionally outside the intended line. If your background color stops exactly at the edge, that tiny shift can leave a thin white strip along the edge of the printed label. Extending your background into the bleed zone eliminates this risk entirely. Like the safe zone line, the red border is a design guide and will not appear on the final printed label.

Updated label sizes

The label dimensions have been revised and updated for select products.

Why the sizes changed: Label dimensions need to match the actual surface area of the product container. Where we identified a mismatch between a label size and the corresponding packaging, the template has been corrected so that labels wrap, align, and adhere to the container as intended. Using the right size from the start avoids issues such as labels that overhang edges, leave gaps, or wrinkle on application.

Updated label content

Pre-filled label text revised on select templates

Certain templates have had their pre-filled content updated — this includes suggested use instructions, caution statements, and other mandatory text fields. Where content has changed, it is already reflected in the updated template file.

Why the content changed: The revisions primarily free up more usable space on the label for your design and branding — the same required information is now formatted more efficiently.
