One of the essential parts of setting up your store after creating and publishing products is setting up the shipping rates. You want to ensure you are not overcharging your customers and, simultaneously, not losing money on free shipping.

It's important to note that these will be the prices your customer pays you for delivering their goods. It means you can:

  • earn an extra buck by making the delivery cost slightly higher (set up your rates the way you want them)

  • Set the delivery price lower or even free, which is a great marketing strategy for your store (set up free shipping).

Free Shipping

It is an excellent alternative if you are not willing to waste too much time setting shipping rates. It implies that you will raise each product's retail price to cover the delivery cost.

It is important to note that you will still pay Supliful for the order delivery - the delivery will be free to your store customers.

Perks

  • Setup is fast and easy

  • Reduces shopping cart abandonment

  • Attracts more new customers

  • Good shipping experiences retain customers

  • Helps to remain competitive

Drawbacks

  • Increased retail prices

  • Shipping rates might increase, and you will have to either raise the product price or absorb the cost.

How to Set Up Free Shipping

  1. When creating and publishing a product to your Shopify store, set the retail price higher following the shipping prices.

  2. In your Shopify dashboard, go to SettingsShipping and Delivery:

  3. Next to General Shipping Rates, click on the ">" to manage the rates:

  4. Under the Fulfillment Locations section, delete any existing rates for all shipping zones under the Supliful Fulfillment.

  5. On the right from Supliful Fulfillment, click on the Pencil image to edit the rates:

  6. Select New rates for Supliful Fulfillment under Create New Rates and click Done:

Next, click Add Shipping Zone under Supliful Fulfillment Location:

Then create Shipping zones based on the rates here:

Please note that we do not offer worldwide shipping yet. Check the full list of countries here.

Also, Skincare and Pet products require the set up of a separate shipping profile as they can be shipped only within the US.

7. Under the created shipping zone, click on Add rate, choose a Rate type - Use Flat Rate, Shipping rate as Economy and set the Price at $0.00, click Done:

8. Once you set the Free Shipping rate, it will look like this:

9. Repeat steps 7 and 8 for all zones you want to ship to for free.

Setting Up Weight-Based Rates

When you publish a product to your Shopify store, all the details are automatically synched, including the product weight. That way, you do not need to manually enter each product's weight in case you decide to go with the weight-based rates.

Skincare and Pet products require the set up of a separate shipping profile as they can be shipped only within the US.

  1. In your Shopify dashboard, go to SettingsShipping and Delivery:

  2. Next to General Shipping Rates, click on the ">" to manage the rates:

  3. Under the Fulfillment Locations section, delete any existing rates for all shipping zones under the Supliful Fulfillment.

  4. On the right from Supliful Fulfillment, click on the Pencil image to edit the rates:

Once you have your Shipping Zone set up, it's time to create rates following the Supliful shipping prices.

In the below example, we will demonstrate how to set up weight-based rates for the United States.

6. Under the shipping zone, click Add rate, choose a Rate type - Use Flat Rate, Shipping rate as Economy, and click on Add Conditional Pricing:

7. Set the price and the maximum weight. In the screenshot below, you can see that we have set the price to $5 for orders under 1lb:

8. Repeat steps 6 and 7 for each weight category. Once you have them set up, your rates should look similar to this:

9. Repeat steps 5 - 8 to set up rates for each zone you want your products to be delivered to.

Setting up Express Shipping in the USA

Please note that currently, we offer Express Delivery to the USA only, and only for Shopify orders.

  1. Once you've created a shipping zone for the US, click on Add rate.

Select Use flat rate under the rate type and "Express" under the Shipping rate.

Click Add Conditional Pricing, and make sure it is set to Based on item weight. Set up the maximum weight for this rate and add the price. Click Done.

  2. Repeat steps for each weight category.

Set Up Your Own Rates

As mentioned, you can set up the weight-based rates if you are willing to charge your customers the exact amount you will be paying Supliful for the delivery.

However, you can set up your rates and charge your customers as much as you want for the shipping.

Check out this Shopify guide on various shipping rate setups and decide which one works best for you.
